Global Youth Film Festival Bangladesh

The Global Youth Film Festival is an annual, competitive, international event presented by Cinema Bangladesh, a film society dedicated to showing the best in culturally diverse, authentic programming for youth. The Global Youth Film Festival encourages teens and young adults to make short films ​about issues that affect them in today's society. ​

Total Submission:
1,270 films from 101 countries.
Among the films, 227 are submitted in the Best of the Fest, 669 in Short Film, 581 in International Short, 167 in Documentary, 206 in Animation and 83 in "Hiralal Sen Best Bangladeshi Film'' categories.

Workshops> MOVIE SCRIPT WRITING, ART OF DIRECTING,  FESTIVAL MARKETING, FILM GRANTS.
Screening> 10 most promising Bengali short film of this time.

Golam Rabbany Biplob
Chairman

He has served as an official jury at Busan International Film Festival, Strasbourg Forum for European Cinema France and as NETPAC jury at Vesoul Asian Film Festival (France), as Don Quixote Jury of FICC at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (Czech Republic), Cottbus Film Festival Germany etc.
​He received Best Director Award at Asian New Talent Competition at 10th Shanghai International Film Festival, 2007 and “Silver Peacock” Award at 38th International Film Festival of India-GOA, 2007 for his debut film SWOPNODANAY (On the Wings of Dreams). Two of his films were nominated for Bangladesh Submission to Foreign Language Competition Awards for “OSCAR”.

Sadia Khalid 
FIPRESCI Jury

Sadia Khalid is a Screenwriting graduate from University of California, Los Angeles. She is a member of FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics) and was a jury member at the “Bangladesh Panorama” section at the Dhaka International Film Festival 2018. She teaches Screenwriting at various universities and institutions including University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh and Pathshala South Asian Media Institute.​​

Mahde Hasan
Jury Member

Based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Mahde Hasan is a Screenwriter and Director. His short film 'I Am Time' screened at 69th Festival del Film Locarno, 2016. Mahde Hasan placed first in the section 'movieofmylife' at 70th Locarno Festival, 2017. His film project SAND CITY is selected for Open Doors Hub at Open Doors Locarno 2018, which will be held in August during the 71st Locarno Film Festival.

​Fakhrul Arefeen Khan

​National award-winning documentary Al Badr marked Arefeen’s entry into the film industry. Apart from winning the prestigious National Award for Best Documentary in 36 th National Film Awards, 2011; Al Badr was screened in Commonwealth Film Festival, SAARC Film Festival and Ankara Film Festival.
His first feature film Bhuban Majhi won the National Film Grant from the Ministry of Information and has been screened in numerous international film festivals and has been screened in 17 countries.

Meher Afroz Shaon

Meher Afroz Shaon is a popular Bangladeshi actress, director and playback singer. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her performance in the film Krishnopokkho, the first feature film by Shaon.​

Josim Ahmed

​Josim Ahmed has won the international award as best director for his short film 'A pair of Sandal'.  'DAAG' is the first short film of him which is distributed by the British distribution company short international. Also, he is known to all as the director of Bondishalai noy mash (9 month imprisonment) based on 9 months imprisonment of Bangabandhu shiekh Mujibur Rahman on Pakistan jail in 1971.

Proshoon Rahmaan is Dhaka based Writer & independent Filmmaker from Bangladesh. Studied over Screen Writing and various aspect of Film-making at several countries. `Her Own Address' (Sutopar Thikana) is debutante feature film, by the Director which is National Grant winner and portraying womanhood of South Asia. Film has been released countrywide at 8 May 2015 and at March 2016 internationally.

Anam Biswas

Asian Film Academy Producing Fellow and Locarno Open Doors Producing Lab Fellow Arifur Rahman’s debut produced feature film Kingdom of Clay Subjects has World Premiered at 42nd Seattle IFF, was the Best Film at 7th Chicago South Asian FF. Arifur’s documentary proposal Beyond the Waves has won the Colors of Asia competition at Tokyo Docs.

Ramendu Majumdar

Chief Advisor

A leading figure of Bangladesh culture, Ramendu Majumdar received the highest civilian award of Bangladesh ‘Ekushey Padak’ in 2009 for his contribution to theater. Bangla Academy has also awarded honorary Fellowship to him.
He served as the worldwide President of ITI (International Theater Institute) for 6 years. Currently he is the Honorary President of world ITI. He is a member of the Executive Council of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, a Senate Member of Dhaka University, a Senate and Syndicate Member of National University, Bangladesh and President of Advertising Agencies Association of Bangladesh.

"Young Talent Award" winner film maker.
His film A Letter to God won some international awards including- 

Best Drama Award in Real to Reel Global Youth Film Festival, Hollywood, USA. BEST FOREIGN FILM award in GEOFILMFESTIVAL and EXPOCINEMA, Italy. Directing on a Best Screenplay Award in 3rd Shiraz OIC Youth Capital Film Festival, Iran. 
Hemanta Sadeeq is a prominent film society activist as well.
